Maine Principals Association, Maine Department of Education, and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services

Pull the Plug on High School Football and Volleyball.

In a news release on Thursday 9/10, the Maine Principal’s Association, under pressure from the Maine Department of Education and Maine Department of Health and Human Services, reversed course and declared high school football and volleyball too dangerous to play for reasons related to potential exposure to Covid-19.

The revised guidelines of “School Sports Guidance,” which originally approved the return of Football on September 1, 2020, can be found here:

It's now up to Maine Superintendents, Principals, Athletic Directors, and Coaches to devise a plan for 7-on-7 Flag Football or an early Spring season in March/April of 2121.
